We sadly announce the passing of a fellow Irishman and
loyal American, Sg.t Edmund McDonald of the US Army
during his third tour in the Middle East. Brother/Trooper
Hagar escorted Sgt. McDonald from the airport to his
final resting place bidding the respects of MPES to the his
surviving family members.  Also Brother Dubay of the
US Air Force Security Police will be flying a flag on
behalf of our fallen brother on his upcoming tour. The
society has elected to make Sgt. McDonald an honorary
member of the Society and will be doing a presentation of
the flag and acceptance ceremony for the family in the
near future check back here or your e-mail for details.

The Maine Irish Heritage Center ( former St.Dominic's ) was approved by Shaws
Grocery stores to be a part of their Shaws Register Receipts program. With your
register receipts from any Shaws store, they can earn 1% of the amount of the
receipts turned in. If you shop at Shaws, would you save your receipts? You can
mail your receipts to MPES or bring them into a meeting. If you have friends or
business associates that shop at Shaws would you ask them to collect their receipts
and give them into you?

The Maine Law Enforcement community suffered a tragic
loss when Sgt. Robert Johnsey sustained a fatal gunshot
wound while servicing his duty weapon. Sgt. Johnsey
was a public servant in the truest form having served in
both State and Federal Corrections facilities, as Sheriff's
Deputy, as a Military Police Officer during Operation
Desert Shield and Desert Storm, as well as serving the
Portland Police Department. Sgt. Johnsey is survived by
his wife and two children. Anyone wishing to aid the
family can do so by making donations through the
Portland Police Department Federal Credit Union located
at 109 Middle St. Portland, ME 04101. For more
information

MPES participated in the Wreaths Across
America project this December by joining in
the escort with members from multiple
police agencies across the state
participating. The Society assisted with the
escort from the Worcester Wreath Company
factory in Harrington, ME down to the
State line in Kittery. Some members even
completed the full length of the escort down
to Arlington National Cemetery. Planning
is already underway for next year's escort.
